Hair fall/loss is a common problem. It’s normal to lose between 50 and 100 hairs a day. It may be due to ageing, heredity, hormonal influence, defective life style, unbalanced diet etc.  Sometimes there may be hair fall in large quantities due to certain conditions like lupus, syphilis, thyroid diseases, tinea capitis, or due to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Hair loss can also be due to medications used to treat cancer, high blood pressure, arthritis, depression, and heart problems. A physical or emotional shock may trigger noticeable hair loss. Exposure to chemicals, excessive shampooing and blow drying also trigger the hair loss.

Management

Some home remedies are shown favorable effect to control hair fall/loss. Coconut milk/oil, aloe vera, neem, amla, egg, yogurt, and hot oil massage are said to be useful to control the hair fall. Balanced diet also helps to reduce hair fall.

Using hair colour, rubbing wet hair vigorously, heat in any form, and dust can trigger the hair fall problem.

Homoeopathic management

Commonly prescribed homoeopathic remedies for hair loss are Acidum nitricum, Acidum fluoricum, Acidum phosphoricum, Alumina, Graphites, Natrum muriaticum, Phosphorus, Selinium, Sepia, Vinca minor, Arnica Q, Ceonothus Q, Jaborandi Q, etc.
