Hyperactivity
Hyperactivity is commonly known as Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). It is a complex mental health disorder that can affect the interpersonal relation and study of the child. The standard guidelines given by the American Academy of Pediatrics, which says the condition may be diagnosed in children age 4 to 18. ADHD has been found to exist in every country and culture studied to date. While it is most commonly diagnosed in the United States, rates of diagnosis are rising in most industrialized countries as they become more aware of the disorder, its diagnosis, and its management.
Symptoms
The common sign of ADHD is inability to recognize other people's needs and desires. Children with ADHD have problems to concentrate and to pay attention. They might have trouble sitting still in class and waiting for their turn. They change position very frequently. They are daydreamer. ADHD children are unable to keep their emotion (good or bad) inside for long time. They may have outbursts of anger at inappropriate times or temper tantrums. They shows interest in many things like projects, toys chores, homework but will leave it incomplete. If this behavior is affecting their success in school and leading to negative interaction parent should consult a physician.
Cause
Research suggests that ADHD arises from a combination of various genes, many of which have something to do with dopamine transporters. There is no compelling evidence that social factors, alone, can create ADHD. The few environmental factors implicated fall in the realm of biohazards including alcohol, tobacco smoke, and lead poisoning.
Management
Counseling plays very important role to combat with ADHD. Give oneself praise or rewards for acting in a desired way, such as controlling anger or thinking before acting. Parents, teachers, and family members also can give positive or negative feedback for certain behaviors.
