VISCUM PENTARKAN® (WSI) 

Introduction 

Hypertension is present if a patient’s average blood pressure is higher than 140 mm Hg systolic and higher than 90 mm Hg diastolic. 

Hypertension is the presence of an elevated blood pressure that places patients at increased risk for target organ damage in several vascular beds including the retina, brain, heart, and kidneys. It is important to note the presence of other cardiovascular factors (e.g. diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidaemia, cigarette smoking, obesity). Hypertension is a common condition and essential hypertension accounts for approximately 90% of these cases. The remainder are afflicted with secondary hypertension caused by renal parenchymal disease, renovascular disease, pheochromocytoma, Cushing’s syndrome, primary hyperaldosteronism, and coarctation of the aorta. Recent alcohol consumption and medication such as oral contraceptives, appetite suppressants, nonsteroid antiinflammatory agents and exogenous thyroid hormones may affect blood pressure. 

VISCUM PENTARKAN® (WSI)  exerts a regulating influence on the arterial blood flow. It helps to reduce accompanying subjective complaints. The product is suitable for the treatment of mild to moderate forms of hypertension. 

Composition 

Arnica montana 2x 10%

Crataegus oxyacantha  30%

Plumbum aceticum 5x 10%

Secale cornutum 3x 10%

Viscum album 40%

Alcohol content: 65% v/v 

Proven indications of the individual ingredients in the sphere of claimed action:

Arnica montana is indicated for hypertension, arteriosclerosis and weakness of the heart muscle. It has tonic effects on blood vessels and the heart. It is used for patients with plethoric face and strokes with dizzy spells of nausea and emesis. 

Crataegus oxyacantha is said to have a solvent power upon calcareous deposits in arteries. It is indicated for essential and arteriosclerotic hypertension in elderly persons. It alleviates palpitation, heart congestion, sharp heart pains, sleeplessness, nocturia, dizziness, and dyspnoea. 

Plumbum aceticum is used for arteriosclerotic conditions and concomitant circulatory disturbances in different organs and tissues. It alleviates palpitation and tachycardia exacerbated by ascending stairs or running. Congestive headache with pulsation and heat is also improved by Plumbum aceticum. 

Secale cornutum is indicated for hypertension with congestive pain in the head. It also helps to alleviate dyspnoea oppression of the chest, and palpitation with intermittent pulse. Nose bleed due to high blood pressure is also controlled. 

Viscum album lowers the blood pressure. It has a calming effect on palpitation and accelerated pulse. It also relieves weight and oppression of heart and dyspnoea. It is used for cardiac hypertrophy with valvular insufficiency. 

Directions for use 

Dosage: Unless otherwise prescribed, VISCUM PENTARKAN® (WSI)  should be taken as follows: 

10-20 drops should be taken 3 times a day. 

Note: For treatment during pregnancy and lactation, and for patients with serious liver or alcohol problems, in particular, please note that this product contains alcohol. 

Side effects: No side effects of VISCUM PENTARKAN® (WSI)  are known. 

Contra-indications: VISCUM PENTARKAN® (WSI)  should not be used in individuals known to be hypersensitive to Arnica or to other Compositae flowers. 

This product is not indicated for children under 12 years of age. 

Interactions: No interactions between VISCUM PENTARKAN® (WSI)  and other products are known.
