Ocimum gratissimum MT

Ocimum gratissimum MT is used in cough, mild stomach pain, vomiting in children due to indigestion and in certain forms of skin diseases. It has a strong decoction, which is effectual in the aphthae of children. Decoction of leaves are useful in seminal weakness. It is also a remedy for gonorrhoea. Seeds are useful in headache and neuralgia. Externally it is used to relieve pain of joints. Recent studies reported that it posseses antibacterial, antifungal, hypoglycemic, oxytocic (accelerating childbirth by stimulating uterine contractions) activities.
