Mentha viridis MTĀ is used in scanty urination with frequent desire for urination. A review of the research has shown that it could be of value in urinary tract infections. It is considered to be stimulant, carminative and antiseptic. Seeds of plant are mucilaginous. It is also given in case of fever and bronchitis and in decoction and also as a lotion in aphthae. Recent research has shown that its tea may be used as a treatment for hirsutism in women. Its anti-androgenic properties reduce the level of free testosterone in the blood, while leaving total testosterone and DHEA unaffected.
