Lavandula angustifolia MT

Lavandula angustifolia MTĀ is used as carminative, anti-depressant and stimulant. Research has shown that the lavender oil, which is the main constituent of the plant, reduces pain and nervous excitability. In small doses, it is used for indigestion, colic, relieves wind and bloating of stomach. Some people consider it as a sleep inducing medicine, specially to relieve pain in head and tension in the brain. Externally it acts as an anti-septic and antibacterial agent. Research has supported its action to reduce pain and alleviate nervous excitability. Recent reports support its use in cases of insomnia, alopecia (hair loss), anxiety, stress, and postoperative pain. Lavender is also being studied for antibacterial and antiviral properties.
