Ilex paraguayensis MT

Ilex paraguayensis MT is used for epigastric pain, sense of dryness of mouth and pharynx, anorexia, pyrosis, nervous depression, neurasthenia. Somnolence; incapacity for work, diminution of urinary secretions, headache, hemicrania, renal colic. It is said to be of use as prophylactic against sunstroke, being a safe stimulant to the circulation, in diaphoresis and diuresis. The research on the drug has indicated that it calms the nerves and it is beneficial during pregnancy. In homoeopathy the tincture is used for the same purposes. Recent studies have proved it possess anti-microbial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
