Echinacea purpurea MT is used for diphtheria and putrid fevers. Research establishes immune stimulant action, inhibits the viruses to enter and take over the cells; antibacterial, antifungal; being investigated for HIV and AIDS treatment. Topical Echinacea purpurea juice has been suggested for skin and oral wound healing. Study shows that oral Echinacea purpurea may offer some benefits in people with low-grade uveitis (Uvea: The part of the eye that contains the iris and ciliary body and choroid). In a study to determine whether Echinacea purpurea given to children for the treatment of acute upper respiratory tract infection (URI) was effective in reducing the risk of subsequent URI, it is found that the use of Echinacea purpurea was associated with a 28% decreased risk of subsequent URI versus placebo.
