Dioscorea villosa MT

Dioscorea villosa MT is a remedy for many kinds of pain, specially colic, and in severe, painful affections of abdominal and pelvic viscera; it ranks with the polycrests of the materia medica. It is also used for persons of feeble digestive powers; tea drinkers, with much flatulence. For gall stone and colic. Research indicates it as a source of natural hormone for spermatorrhoea, weak muscles and easily tired persons. Diosgenine one of the main active principles, has demonstrated its important pro-apoptotic effects, in the therapy of benign and malign tumors, including mammary and ovarian cysts, and uterine fibroids. Thus it is used in the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
