In homoeopathy, Datura metel MTĀ is used for convulsion, delirium, epilepsy, and affections of eye, mania and timidity. It is used in case of flickering before eyes with sensitiveness to light. Pulse and temperature undergo extremes of exaltation and depression. The symptomology has a mix presentation of belladonna and strammonium. In Indian system of medicine, it is used like other Daturas (D. alba, D. fastuosa and D. strammonium). New finding on alcoholic extract is anti-cancer. Compounds isolated from the drug have displayed cytotoxic activity against human lung carcinoma cells and human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells.
