Althaea officinalis MT

Althaea officinalis MT is demulcent and emollient. It is generally used for irritable bladder, generalised throat inflammations, and milder form of bronchial congestion. Because of the phyto active-chemicals present in it, the drug is reported to be useful in hyperacidity, gastritis, peptic ulcer, colitis and irritable local syndrome. Research reports favourable demulcent and emollient protective action on mucous membranes. A constituent of Althaea officinalis has been found to be possess antitussive activity.
